Bannon ordered Breitbart editors to ramp up attacks on Trump-backed Alabama Senate candidate: report

Former White House adviser and reinstated Breitbart executive Steve Bannon is once again calling the shots at the right-wing publication -- and is reportedly pushing coverage that opposes the president's agenda.

According to CNN, Bannon ordered Breitbart's editors to "step up its overwhelmingly negative coverage" of Luther Strange, the Alabama Republican that President Donald Trump endorsed to replace the Senate seat that now-Attorney General Jeff Sessions vacated when he joined the administration.

In his first major act of defiance of his former boss, , the controversial Judge Roy Moore.

After Bannon told Breitbart's editors to increase their anti-Strange coverage, the site's Washington editor Matthew Boyle reportedly told his writers that "the only story that matters until next week is Alabama."

The primary runoff election between Strange and Moore is scheduled for September 26.
