Barbara Bush, the daughter of former President George W. Bush, has given money to a super PAC supporting Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico, Houston Public Media reported.
The amount is small, but it may say something about where some Republicans stand.
Lone Star Rising PAC’s third-quarter filing with the FEC lists a $2,500 contribution from the younger Bush, dated September 23. The Bush family didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Andrew Cates, a campaign finance attorney in central Texas, noted that someone from such a prominent family could easily have given in a way that kept her name out of public view. Instead, he said, she chose a PAC that discloses all of its money, not a 501(c)(4) that would have kept her donation anonymous.
He said the sum is minor in a race that has drawn hundreds of millions of dollars.
“It’s not like Elon Musk money, obviously,” Cates said.
Still, he suggested the gift could hint at where the moderate Republican establishment is leaning and how it sees the contest ending.
Polls show Talarico and Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton roughly tied, or with Talarico narrowly ahead.
Barbara Bush already made clear her willingness to back Democrats two years ago, when she supported then-Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.
