Bengals cheerleader pleads not guilty to sex with student

A cheerleading captain for the Cincinnati Bengals and her middle school principal mother on Monday both plead not guilty in a sex case.

Sarah Jones, 26, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a senior at Dixie Heights High School before she resigned for "personal reasons" in November. She faces charges of first-degree sexual abuse and unlawfully using electronic devices to induce a minor to engage in sex.

Her mother, Cheryl Jones, was indicted for tampering with evidence in her daughter's case. On Thursday, the mother was put on administration leave from her position as the Principal of Twenhofel Middle School in Taylor Mill.

"The student denies it," attorney Eric Deters explained in December. "The parents of the student are upset that this has gone where it has gone. They don't have anything bad to say about Sarah. Sarah denies it. ... There's no victim. There's nobody saying 'Hey, this happened.'"

Due to a suspension for ethics violations, Deters is not currently serving as Jones' attorney. That suspension will be lifted on April 24.

Kenton Circuit Judge Patricia Summe reduced bond to $15,000 for each woman. Bond had been previously set at $50,000 for the daughter and $30,000 for the mother.

Jones won an $11 million lawsuit against gossip website TheDirty.com in 2010 after they posted photos of the then-teacher and claimed she likely contracted chlamydia and gonorrhea because her ex-boyfriend cheated on her with more than 50 women. One commenter on the site also claimed she had sex with her boyfriend in the classroom.

"To stand in front of thirty 15 year-olds and tell them you don't have two STDs and that you are not a slut is the hardest thing you will ever have to do," she told ABC News last year.

TheDirty.com founder Nik Richie has refused to pay and litigation in the case is ongoing.
