Biden clinches Georgia primary and gains enough delegates to win Dem nomination

President Joe Biden has secured the delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination, according to multiple projections.

He crossed the threshold by winning Georgia, according to projections from the New York Times and CNN.

The Peach State win for the 46th president delivers 108 delegates for the Democrats in a state that holds an open primary, meaning any registered citizen can vote for either primary.

The incumbent secured 95.6 percent of the state's vote with Marianne Williamson taking 2.5% and Rep. Dean Phillips (D-MN) claiming 1.9%.

Georgia became a pivotal state during the 2020 election when former President Donald Trump claimed election fraud had corrupted the votes and secured his defeat.

Last year, Trump was indicted on election racketeering charges linked to his actions following Biden's victory. He has pleaded not guilty.
