Bill Maher destroys Trump-loving Fox News 'populist' Steve Hilton on HBO's Real Time

On Friday, Bill Maher's real Time panel included Fox News host Steve Hilton, who bills himself as a "populist."

The British-born conservative is a Trump supporter who rails about the Deep State. In the current era, he's one of the more hostile guests to be invited onto Maher's HBO show.

A panel with Maher, Hilton author Thom Hartmann and Washington Post opinion columnist Catherine Rampell grew uncharacteristically hostile as Rampell and Maher confronted Hilton about his brand of "populism."

"When you talk about the people's interests, I completely agree with you about that," Hilton said. "But that's not just because of the [Supreme] court, that's because of our laws and the fat that Congress makes laws that favor the interest of always the corporate sector."

"But whose fault is that?" Maher asked. "You're on Fox News!"

"Everyone!" said Hilton.

"Not everyone!" said Maher.

"This is not a both sides thing," said Rampell. "Tell me something, who passed a tax cut where 80% of the benefit went to the top 1%. Was that a Democratic bill, or was that a Republican bill?"

The audience erupted as Maher continued to pick apart Hilton's arguments.
