Bill Maher: Trump is the adult version of the 'pain-in-the-ass kid' kicking your plane seat

Bill Maher closed Real Time on Friday by arguing that Donald Trump is not a conman, or a Klansman, or a clown -- he's really something much more petty that is perilously close to the presidency.

"What Donald Trump really reminds me of is a spoiled five-year-old throwing a tantrum. He is the grown-up version of every pain-in-the-ass kid who ever sat behind you on a plane kicking the back of your seat," Maher explained. "While the parents did nothing -- 'Little Logan is just exploring.' No, 'Little Logan' is being a d*ck and if you won't shove him in the overhead bin, I will."

The Republican front-runner's rise, Maher said, was not fueled by racism or xenophobia, but by what he called "the self-esteem movement." To Maher, the Trumps of the world are created whenever a parent asks their child where they want to go to dinner or fails to silence them when adults are talking.

As proof, Maher played a montage of clips showing Trump to declare himself to be "the best" at things ranging from building border walls to religion to "the military."

"Donald Trump is the white Kanye West," an exasperated Maher said at one point.

Parents these days, he said, wrongly teach their children not to fix their flaws, because it's incumbent upon the world to accept them.

"Like they say on reality shows, the most important thing is just 'You doing you,'" Maher scoffed. "But what if you is a big a*shole?"
