Bill O'Reilly melts down over 'slaves were well-fed' criticism: Liberals 'want me dead'

It appears that Republican nominee Donald Trump isn't the only thin-skinned bully who's having a bad week.

Media Matters reported Wednesday that Fox News pundit Bill O'Reilly was stung by the fierce pushback to his contention on Tuesday night that the slaves who built the White House were "well-fed and had decent lodgings provided by the government."

During a panel discussion with Fox News colleagues Geraldo Rivera and Eric Bolling, the known sexual harasser had a self-pitying meltdown in which he said his critics "want me dead."

Bolling tried to soothe O'Reilly's hurt feelings by saying, "These left wing zealots don't realize you write books about history. And I think you did, you cited history."

"No, they realize it, They realize it," O'Reilly replied.

Historians and critics have savaged O'Reilly's "books about history" as being full of misinformation, lies and distortions.

"(T)his is a designed attack," O'Reilly complained, "came out of Media Matters, spread to Mother Jones and the other smear publications, and then into the Daily News and USA Today, designed to diminish me and to harm the Fox News channel. That's what it is designed to do."

"This is provocation. These people are doing this. They want me dead, Bolling, literally dead," he said.
