A black man who asked to use the bathroom at a Pines Market in Pembroke Pines, Florida was stabbed in the face by an employee, reports CBS local.
Harold Williams says he asked two employees if he could use the bathroom. When they gave him permission, he walked out back. Another employee followed him, stabbing him in the cheek.
Williams described the incident. "The only thing I asked was to use the restroom and I was attacked. The man nearly took my life,” said Williams.
He rushed to a local medical facility and had to spend five weeks recovering in the hospital. Now, his lawyer says they believe the attack was racially motivated.
“I have reason to believe this was racially motivated," his lawyer said. "I want to ensure the prosecutor’s office continues to investigate whether or not racial bias was a factor."
