As part of her opening statement before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Attorney General Pam Bondi paused, laughed and smirked when describing judicial efforts to rein in the Donald Trump administration.
After being introduced by Committee Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) Bondi listed off accomplishments during her tenure before closing by mentioning lawsuits filed against the administration, which she seemed to find amusing.
“My attorneys have done incredible work advancing the Trump agenda and protecting the executive branch from judicial overreach,” she told the senators. ”We have been sued more than 400 times since January 20.”
“Judges have issued 90 temporary restraining orders against us,” she continued and then paused to laugh before adding, “More than the previous several administrations combined. Despite this unprecedented degree of activism we've seen from the lower courts, we have never ignored a court order, and why would we?”
