A person was left in critical condition Tuesday morning after being shot in an incident involving U.S. Border Patrol agents near Arivaca in southern Pima County, Arizona, authorities said. The Santa Rita Fire District airlifted the wounded individual to a regional trauma center as the FBI and Customs and Border Protection joined the investigation. Details remain limited, including the circumstances leading up to the shooting and whether any federal officers were injured, and federal agencies have not yet commented publicly as law enforcement continues to probe the early-morning confrontation close to the U.S.–Mexico border.
