Boston Globe receives multiple violent threats shortly after Trump attacked them in Twitter rant

The Boston Globe was forced to bring in uniformed police officers to its headquarters after the newspaper received multiple threats shortly after President Donald Trump attacked it on Twitter.

Universal Hub reports that a notice was sent out to tenants who worked inside the Globe's State Street headquarters building that informed them off additional security measures being taken to protect the building and its inhabitants from potential attacks.

"Earlier today a tenant in the building, the Boston Globe, received several threats via phone call," the notice read. "Based on this threat the local and federal authorities have recommended some additional security measures for the property. For the remainder of the day you will see uniformed Boston Police officers in the lobby and around the property."

The threat against the newspaper came hours after President Donald Trump attacked it on his Twitter feed over its role in leading a campaign to get newspapers across the country to denounce his attacks on the media as the "enemy of the people."

"The Boston Globe... is in COLLUSION with other papers on free press," the president wrote. "PROVE IT!"
