Boston Police react to Anonymous hacking with sarcastic video

Members of the Boston Police Department have released a sarcastic video responding to an attack on their website by the hacktivist group Anonymous.

On Feb. 3, Anonymous had replaced the BPDNews.com with a message criticizing their crackdown on Occupy Boston protests. A video for KRS-One's 1993 song "Sound of da Police" was also included on the hacked page.

"Normally I sleep pretty well," Deputy Superintendent Colm Lydon deadpans in the video. "But since the site went down, I haven’t slept a wink."

"In the days after the hacking, fans of the page struggled to make sense of a world without BPDnews.com," a narrator says.

Another officer recalled hearing "Sound of da Police" for the first time when the site was hacked: "I was out running like I do every morning and I came in, I showered, I put on the web page to look at all the positive news and all the great events we're doing working with the community and to my dismay, I hear this terrible voice."

"Well, my reaction was, 'Why would anybody want to destroy a perfectly good KRS-One song?'" Deputy Superintendent William Gross adds.
