Brian Kemp prepares to make Trump-backed primary challengers' lives 'a living hell': report

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is preparing to take on a Republican primary challenger backed by former President Donald Trump, whom CNN reports has a "thirst for revenge" against Kemp after he refused to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

While Kemp so far is trying to present a positive message in his early reelection campaign ads, CNN's sources claim that behind the scenes he is getting ready to wage a brutal fight against a Trump-endorsed rival next year.

In particular, sources close to Kemp tell CNN that the Georgia governor is prepared to make former Sen. David Perdue's (R-GA) life "a living hell" if he jumps into the race.

Among other things, CNN writes that Kemp's tactics "may include targeting a series of stock trades Perdue made in January 2020 following a briefing about the then-nascent coronavirus pandemic."

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA), who is an ally of both Trump and Kemp, tells CNN that he hopes Perdue doesn't run so the party can remain unified ahead of a fight against the Democrats.

"My hope is that he won't run," said Carter. "My hope is that we'll have just one candidate that we can unify behind."
