Florida school board moves to oust embattled Moms for Liberty co-founder over sex scandal

The co-founder of the anti-LGBTQ Moms for Liberty group could soon be ousted from a Florida school board over a sexual assault investigation into her husband.
The Sarasota County School Board will vote Tuesday on a resolution asking her to resign, because the panel cannot directly remove her, and chairwoman Karen Rose said she was "shocked and deeply saddened" by the rape allegation against husband Christian Ziegler, who's the state Republican Party chairman, and the couple's admissions about having a three-way sexual encounter with the accuser, reported WFOR-TV.
"I personally care about Bridget and her family and deeply regret the necessity for this course of action, but given the intense media scrutiny locally and nationally, her continued presence on the Board would cause irreparably harmful distractions to our critical mission," said Rose, who authored the resolution.
Sarasota police are investigating a woman's accusations against Christian Ziegler, who has not yet been charged and claims the encounter was consensual.
"We have a country to save and I am not going to let false allegations of a crime put that mission on the bench as I wait for this process to wrap up," said Christian Ziegler, who intends to stay on as GOP chair, in a recent message to party members.
The woman says she and the Zieglers had planned a threesome for that day, but only Christian Ziegler came to her apartment and then allegedly assaulted her.
