Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder jumped into the ratcheting row between President Donald Trump and Brcue Springsteen.
The singer paid tribute to the New Jersey rocker at a Pittsburgh show just hours after the president called Springsteeen “highly overrated,” dumb as a rock” and “a dried out prune.”
Springsteen had directed a hit at Trump from a United Kingdom stage, saying “In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, and has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration.”
Vedder took the stage on Friday, performing a solo version of Springsteen’s classic “My City of Ruins,”
It “appeared to be a quiet but powerful response to Donald Trump’s recent criticism,” Billboard magazine wrote.

The track has been played by Springsteen during his UK tour to accompany his Trump attacks.
Trump issued what appeared to be a threat to Springsteen, saying, “Springsteen ought to keep his mouth shut until he gets back into the country. Then we’ll all see how it goes for him.”
On Monday, he announced he planned to investigate the singer and others for what he called illegal campaign activity for performances backing his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris.
