Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump hung up on Washington Post reporters on Friday afternoon when they followed up on audio capturing an alleged "spokesperson" with a voice nearly identical to his.
About 44 minutes into the interview, the Post reported, the reporters asked Trump, "Did you ever employ someone named John Miller as a spokesperson?"
The line went dead at that point. When the reporters called again, a secretary told them, "I heard you got disconnected. He can't take the call now. I don't know what happened."
The report came after the Post released a 14-minute recording of "John Miller" speaking to reporter Sue Carswell in 1991 regarding the end of Trump's marriage to his first wife, Ivana.
Trump denied the report in a phone interview with NBC on Friday morning, arguing that it sounded like a "scam" perpetrated by someone trying to imitate him.
"It was not me on the phone," he said. "And it doesn’t sound like me on the phone, I will tell you that, and it was not me on the phone. And when was this? Twenty-five years ago?"
However, CNN reported on Friday that at least one voice analyst has concluded that "Miller" was actually Trump.
The Associated Press reported that Trump admitted in court to using the aliases "John Miller" and "John Barron" early in his career.
