California bans state-funded travel to Oklahoma over anti-LGBT adoption law

California state workers are now banned from traveling to Oklahoma for work as the state because of its anti-LGBT policies, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

The cause of the policy, which goes into effect on June 22, is a new Oklahoma law that allows adoption agencies to deny placement services to same-sex parents.

“California taxpayers are taking a stand against bigotry,” Attorney General Xavier Becerra said. “California will not use state resources to support states that pass discriminatory laws.”

California has now banned travel to eight states: Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota and Texas.
