‘Call out the people who sell their soul’: Former Republican official slams Mulvaney for knowing Trump is ‘terrible’

Future acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney was slammed on MSNBC on Monday for supporting President Donald Trump despite acknowledging the president is a "terrible human being."

MSNBC "Deadline: White House" host Nicolle Wallace played a clip of Mulvaney speaking frankly about Trump during the 2016 campaign. At the time, Mulvaney was a Republican member of Congress representing South Carolina.

"Is he a role model for my sons? "Absolutely not," Mulvaney said. "I'm supporting Donald Trump as enthusiastically as I can given that he is a terrible human being."

"That is what the bottom of the barrel really looks like, when you pick somebody for your chief of staff who thinks you're a terrible human being," Wallace noted. "That was Mick Mulvaney calling Trump a terrible human being."

"This is the garbage that the American people detest coming out of the Republican Party right now," former GOP Congressman David Jolly (R-FL) charged. "Mick Mulvaney will go down with Donald Trump and he should go down with Donald Trump."

"What he said there is, I don't trust this man's influence on my children, but yet he is willing to be part of what Donald Trump is doing to the country," he continued. "Consider that, he is afraid of Trump's influence on his own children, but he will empower him, enable him, and do his bidding as his acting chief of staff."

"It's garbage, it's absolute garbage," he added.

"That's what they all think of him," Wallace said.

"That's who they are, that's who Mick Mulvaney is," Jolly concluded.

"Just as we call out Donald Trump, we have to call out the people that sell their soul to work for that man," he said.
