Man arrested at Capitol Visitor Center who 'smelled like fuel and had a torch': police

The United States Capitol Police on Tuesday revealed that they had arrested an unidentified man at the Capitol Visitor Center during security screening process because he "smelled like fuel, had a torch, and a flare gun."

Police did not immediately reveal the identity of the man or say whether they believed he intended to self-immolate or set fire to another target.

The Capitol Police said that they have shut down the Capitol Visitor Center tours for the rest of the day while they conduct their investigation.
