On Saturday, NBC New York reported that Michael Stepakoff, a "Messianic" rabbi from the Temple of New Jerusalem in Palm Harbor, Florida, has been arrested and faces federal charges after being caught on camera breaking into the U.S. Capitol during the pro-Trump riots at the beginning of January.
"Documents from the DOJ say Stepakoff could be seen on surveillance video in the Capitol building, taking photos with his cell phone after entering. Stepakoff later posted photos on social media, including a photo of him with a large group," said the report. "Someone who knew Stepakoff over 20 years ago later identified him to authorities."
Stepakoff is one of dozens of officials identified as having been involved in the Capitol attack, which left five dead — and nor is he the only religious figure. An Orthodox priest from Ohio has been suspended from his duties after being implicated in the invasion.
