Carl Bernstein stunned by Trump's bigotry: 'We've never had a president that hates half the country'

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump is scheduled to speak during prime time to make the case of his border wall.

The speech, set in the Oval Office, will run on all the major networks.

Ahead of the President's appearance, veteran journalist Carl Bernstein appeared on CNN.

Bernstein pointed out that Trump's obsession with the border wall shows a profound lack of respect for many Americans.

"We have had in this country situations where maybe half the country hates the president of the United States at one time or another," Bernstein observed. "We've never had a president that hates half the country."
