Cenk Uygur: Open carry nut bringing gun to school shows 'f*cked up country we live in now'

Young Turks hosts Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur ripped a Michigan man on Wednesday for going to court to demand that he be allowed to carry a pistol openly at his daughter's elementary school.

"I know that you're a guy who can't wait to use it, 'cause you're a lunatic who likes to show his gun around everywhere," Uygur said of Kenneth Herman. "This is the f*cked up country we live in."

As MLive.com reported, Genessee County Circuit Court Judge Archie Hayman ruled on Monday that Herman may carry his firearm into Edgerton Elementary, citing a state law that allows concealed-carry permit holders like himself to do so. School officials had previously kicked Herman off campus on multiple occasions for doing so.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Clio Area School District voted unanimously on Tuesday to appeal the ruling, with Superintendent Fletcher Spears calling on state lawmakers to make state laws less ambiguous, thus cutting off arguments like Herman's.

Uygur called the loophole "weird" and described it as a symptom of the country's insanity.

"If you had told me years ago, 'At some point in America we'll devolve to the point where they're letting parent bring guns to elementary schools,' I would say that sounds fanciful," he said. "But everything that we thought couldn't happen has happened."

For her part, Kasparian wanted to know why Herman would insist on bringing his gun to his daughter's school.

"He can't leave the gun in the car for two to five minutes so he can go pick up his daughter and go home. Why do you want to carry a gun on campus so badly?" she said, before adding, "There's no reason for this other than, 'I'm a gun nut, I want to make a point about how much I love guns. I freaking masturbate to my guns every day.'"
