President Donald Trump's White House appears to be rattled after a high-profile MAGA ally was shot on Wednesday during an event at Utah Valley University, according to a new report.
Charlie Kirk, founder of the student political action group Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck while giving a speech at the university on Wednesday afternoon. Reports indicate that Kirk is in critical condition.
CNN's Kristen Holmes said she spoke to multiple people inside the Trump White House after the incident, and the general feeling within the administration seems to be one of "disbelief."
"I have talked to a number of White House officials and staffers, all of whom seem to be in disbelief," Holmes reported on CNN's "The Arena with Kasie Hunt."
"They are following this incredibly closely," she continued. "They have been in touch with Charlie Kirk's team. They are trying to learn the details of what exactly happened other than him being shot."
Kirk was in Utah as part of a new political tour, Holmes reported. She added that Kirk is also often in close touch with the president and has been known to advise Trump on how to navigate some issues within the MAGA base.
