Christ the redeemer: Oklahoma woman claims Jesus will pay for her dinner and drinks
October 21, 2014
A woman in Lawton, Oklahoma was arrested on charges of fraud after she showed up at a restaurant, ate dinner and had several drinks, then said Jesus would pay her tab.
Lawton's KWSO reported that Kristi Rhines ordered several drinks and dinner at Mexican restaurant El Chico, then revealed that she had no way to pay for them. She explained to managers that her husband would be back soon to settle the tab.
However, when pressed for her husband's name, Rhines replied that she is legally married to Jesus Christ, but has no official wedding license. Jesus would be back soon, she said, according to KWSO, and "would be able to walk in and produce U.S. currency to pay for her bill."
Restaurant staff called police, who charged Rhines with fraud and booked her into the Lawton City Jail.
