CNN anchor shuts down right-wing commentator for lying on air: ‘That is not true’

CNN anchor Ana Cabrera had to repeatedly correct a Republican strategist who was attempting to misinform the network's audience with brazen lies about immigration.

John Thomas, who lives in California, said sanctuary cities should "suffer" by receiving asylum seekers.

"Why would they be suffering? I don't understand. Why do you think they would be suffering?" Cabrera asked.

"Because we can't handle it, Ana," Thomas replied.

"Forget even the fact that I would argue that sanctuary cities have higher crime rates than nonsanctuary cities," he said.

"That's not true," Cabrera interjected. "That's not true."

"Yes, it is," Thomas claimed.

"There are studies that say the exact opposite," Cabrera noted.

"I'm sorry, John, that's not true," she explained.
