CNN guest condemns Laura Ingraham as the 'mouthpiece' of white nationalism: 'Not just a dog whistle'

Georgetown University professor Michael Eric Dyson on Friday said that President Donald Trump and Fox News host Laura Ingraham were both leading the charge to normalize white nationalism in the United States.

When asked about the upcoming white nationalist march scheduled for this weekend in Washington D.C., Dyson drew a direct line between the neo-Nazi movement and the racist rhetoric that regularly comes from the Trump White House and from Fox News.

"Every time the president opens his mouth he reaffirms some of the fundamental predicates of that white nationalist, white racist reaction," said Dyson. "Laura Ingraham is the mouthpiece. This is not a dog whistle, this is a megaphone speaking loudly from the heels proclaiming the vicious politics of assault on black and brown peoples."

Dyson also dismissed since last year's big march in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"The state white supremacy is just fine," he said. "It continues to grow in the aggregate, it continues to intimidate people, even if the numbers are small on the outside. It gathers into itself a kind of snowballing effect where the avalanche... of indecency against black and brown people is being expressed."
