CNN and several of its employees hit back at President Donald Trump after Trump questioned on Saturday why people around the world continue to get their news from "fake" CNN and said that he thinks Fox News is "MUCH more important."
According to Slate.com, the network's communications and public relations department responded in a tweet of its own, saying, "It's not CNN's job to represent the U.S to the world. That's yours. Our job is to report the news. #FactsFirst"
"This was, of course, hardly the first time Trump has criticized CNN. But it does come at a significant time for the cable news channel’s parent company as the Justice Department on Monday sued to block AT&T’s bid for Time Warner," wrote Slate's Daniel Politi.
Several CNN personnel rallied to defend CNN International and their network overall.
"Thinking about @cnni and my brave and hard-working colleagues there who cover famines and wars and politics and terrorism and everything else. Amazing men and women, thank you for your continued excellence," wrote Jake Tapper.
Jim Sciutto joined the fray:
Evan McMulin and others contributed their own messages of support for CNN and CNN International.
