CNN's Acosta: 'The White House knows it was not a joke' and Trump was serious about the IQ test

CNN’s Jim Acosta on Tuesday said Donald Trump “wasn’t joking” when he challenged Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to an IQ test, noting the president “was pissed that people found out [Tillerson] called him a moron.”

Acosta and host Erin Burnett were discussing Trump’s claim he doesn’t “believe in undercutting anybody,” after the president told Forbes he would like to compare IQ tests with Tillerson.

“Some more undercutting going on over here at the White House,” Acosta explained. “We were told in the last several minutes by a source close to the White House, who is familiar with the president's reaction to Rex Tillerson's comments about being called a moron, and then these comments about how the president would like to see his IQ test compared with Rex Tillerson's IQ test.”

“According to this source that I just spoke with a few moments ago, the president was not joking,” Acosta explained. “When he said that he and Rex Tillerson should compare IQ tests, this is what the source said me, they ‘knew he was pissed that people found out he called him a moron and he spouted out about the IQ test because he was mad.’”

“The White House knows it was not a joke,” Acosta explained.
