CNN's Alisyn Camerota torches Trump's consistent defense of sex abuse: 'He feels empathy for the accused'

A CNN panel couldn't agree whether President Donald Trump was sexist or just rude -- but host Alisyn Camerota called him out for habitually taking the side of accused sex abusers.

The "New Day" co-host laughed out loud at the White House attempts to scrub Trump's insults against a woman reporter Monday by changing the phrase, "you're not thinking," to, "you're not thanking," in an official transcript.

"Wow, so they have changed the transcript," she said, "which must mean, I think, that they are embarrassed or that they know it's wrong."

Brian Karem, the White House correspondent for Playboy, was at the news conference and said the president clearly said the reporter wasn't "thinking" -- but he said Trump was insulting to all of them.

"During the course of that press conference yesterday he was equally offensive to everyone," Karem said. "That doesn't mean that he's not a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot, it's just that he treats all reporters -- and the optics of it is bad because we are talking about a (Supreme Court) nominee who is being accused of sexual assault."

The panelists agreed that Trump's attitude toward Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was markedly different from his treatment of accuser Christine Blasey Ford, but Camerota said that shouldn't be surprising.

"I don't know that that is Exhibit A of everything that you're saying because, as we know, the president always sides with the accused, Camerota said. "He feels empathy for the accused, not the accuser."
