CNN's Jim Acosta blasts Trump for 'denying reality' when he downplays white nationalism -- just ask the FBI

On Friday, CNN's Jim Acosta said that President Donald Trump is "denying reality" by downplaying the rise of white nationalist ideology.

After a mass shooting in a New Zealand mosque, the president was asked by reporters if he sees a rise in white nationalism.

“I don’t really. I think it’s a small group of people," the president responded.

Acosta told CNN's Wolf Blitzer that white nationalism is a threat that can't be denied.

"As for the president's claim that white nationalism is not a rising threat, he may want to consider FBI figures showing right-wing extremism is a growing concern," he said.

Acosta then listed examples of white nationalism.

"From the violence on the streets of Charlottesville to the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting and the mosque attack in New Zealand. It's a threat that can't be denied unless you are denying reality," he said.
