Colorado transgender woman defiant after vandals spray paint car with pro-Trump and 'tr*nny die' graffiti

A transgender woman in Denver, Colo. woke up Wednesday to find her car covered in graffiti and hate messages, including a swastika and the phrase “fag die he she.”

“I got up this morning to go to work and the car was parked a couple of doors down,” Amber Timmons told Denver 7. “I came out and was surprised to see it all covered in graffiti and hate messages.”

Timmons’ car was covered in black paint with words like “tranny” and “Trump” drawn alongside Nazi symbols. She had previously written “love trumps hate” and “not my president” in erasable marker on her windows.

“It’s hard to describe,” she said. “The first thought is shock. You just can’t believe it. You hear about it happening with others, but you never think it’s going to happen to you … It’s a personal attack against me as a person.”

While Timmons struggled coming to terms with the vandalism, messages of support poured in. In Facebook posts, she shared images of her friends helping her clean the paint off her vehicle.

“We are successfully ERASING THE HATE!!!” Timmons wrote. “We are not going down… You fight hate with love… so whoever did this… I LOVE YOU!! And love to everyone out there who came to my support and love. Thank you so very much!!!”

Timmons said she came out of her apartment to find a different kind of message on her car: Post-It notes reminding her “you are loved!”

”I am deeply sorry this happened to your car,” one of the Post-It note read. “Do not worry though, this is just the racist/homophobes getting scared of America not complying w/inequality. Love + peace wins always!"

Timmons said while she’s “definitely” rattled by the incident but insists, “you don’t fight hate with hate.”

“If I have to change my lifestyle, it means hate wins,” she said. “And hate doesn't win. Love wins.”
