Congresswoman blasts Sanders for false gun claims: Chicago's illegal weapons come from Trump country

During Monday's White House press briefing in the wake of the Las Vegas attack that became the deadliest mass shooting in American history, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders deflected from reporters asking her about the administration's stance on gun control by bringing up gun violence in Chicago.

After initially claiming it's "premature" to bring up guns in the wake of the Vegas shooting that left 58 dead and 200 injured, Sanders then aim at gun laws.

"I think if you look to Chicago, where you had over 4,000 victims of gun-related crimes last year, they have the strictest gun laws in the country, that certainly hasn't helped there," Sanders said.

In response, Rep. Robin Kelly (D-IL), whose district includes Chicago, said on Twitter that more than half of the guns used for violence in the Windy City come from outside the state. She noted that they come from Indiana, where Vice President Mike Pence was governor, and from Wisconsin, where House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) is from.
