Connecticut NBC joins boycott -- refuses to air Megyn Kelly’s interview with Alex Jones

Even a local NBC affiliate has joined backlash against NBC host Megyn Kelly's planned Sunday broadcast of an interview with InfoWars conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.

Connecticut NBC station WVIT -- which is owned by the network -- has announced they are refusing to air the interview, according to TVNewser.

In an internal memo obtained by TVNewser, the station suggested that Connecticut NBC viewers who want to see the interview should tune in to NBCNews.com on Monday.

"Whenever there is news regarding the Sandy Hook tragedy, we know that the pain resurfaces for our community," WVIT acknowledged. "Because those wounds are understandably still so raw, we have decided not to air this week's episode of Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly."

Jones is conspiracy theorist who is reviled in Connecticut for his false claims about the Sand Hook Elementary School massacre.

"The way Jones sees it, shadowy groups within the U.S. government orchestrated — or at least refrained from preventing — the 9/11 attacks, the Boston Marathon massacre, the bombing of Oklahoma City's Murrah federal building, and the mass shootings in Aurora, Colo., and at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut," the Southern Poverty Law Center explained. "He has even suggested that President Obama was responsible for the 2013 Oklahoma tornado outbreak."

A much publicized child custody case -- that Jones lost in April -- revealed fascinating facts about the radio host.

“The fact is that he is an unalloyed racist, a man who is out there pulling the pin on the grenade every day and he has 6 million viewers who are paying attention to him, and the parents in Newtown are hearing from his followers all the time," veteran journalist Tom Brokaw said yesterday. "They buy into what he is saying — which is patently not true.”
