Counter-protesters scare off white supremacists in North Carolina

After rumors swirled that white supremacists intended to hold a rally at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill to defend their "Silent Sam" Confederate statue, counter-protesters showed up large numbers to resist their message.

Just a day after the final charges against anti-racist counter-protesters were dropped after a similar protest led to a Confederate statue being torn down in nearby Durham, students and activists rallied on UNC's campus in response to yet another alleged white supremacist rally.

Around 3 p.m., Tim Pulliam of local news station ABC 11 noted that there was "no sign" of the rumored Confederate statue defenders as their counter-protesters swelled in number.
