Anti-abortion crusader's run against Obama a Super Bowl ad ploy

Randall Terry: Obama is 'arch child killer of Western Hemisphere'

A famed anti-abortion activist announced Tuesday he plans to use election laws to get graphic ads featuring dead fetuses on the air during the Super Bowl in 2012.

Randall Terry, the founder of Operation Rescue, will formally announce Thursday his plans to seek the Democratic presidential nomination against President Barack Obama in 2012, in order "to expose the genocide of unborn babies."

Although Terry -- who has linked himself to the tea party movement -- stands little chance of energizing the Democrats' largely pro-choice base, the activist said in an interview that the campaign would allow him to run graphic ads of dead fetuses during the Super Bowl.

The Sunshine State News reported:

Terry, who has backed graphic ads of abortion procedures before, hopes to run ads during the 2012 NFL playoff games, including the Super Bowl.

“America has never truly debated child-killing, because America has never truly seen child-killing,” insisted Terry. “We will use FEC and FCC laws for federal candidates to bring America face-to-face with this massacre of the innocents.”

In an interview with ABC, Terry appeared more eager to take on the president in earnest.

"I want to pummel Obama," Terry told the network. "I despise this presidency. He is the arch child killer of the Western Hemisphere, so I'm going to go head-to-head with him."

Terry has launched a website which features three videos described as "prototype ads for Super Bowl 2012." One ad compares abortion to "slavery, child labor [and] segregation" and features images of fetuses juxtaposed against images of lynchings of black people and images of the Holocaust.

Another ad declares that "tyrants on the Supreme Court and political collaborators such as President Obama have decreed that children can be killed in their mother's womb at any time, for any reason."

ABC News noted:

While TV networks occasionally reject ads based on controversial or graphic content, the Federal Communications Act requires broadcasters to provide legally qualified political candidates fair access to ad time and forbids them from censoring ads "in any way, or for any reason."

Terry said he's confident he can raise the $2.5 million for a Super Bowl spot and that CBS would broadcast it.
