A co-founder of the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus rebuked National Security Advisor John Bolton on Tuesday for eliminating the White House cyber coordinator position.
“The role of cyber coordinator will end,” Bolton aide Christine Samuelian emailed to staff, Politico reported.
Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI), who was a founder of the Cybersecurity Caucus, took to Twitter to criticize Bolton's decision.
"We have had three excellent cybersecurity coordinators since the late, great Howard Schmidt originated the position," Rep. Langevin wrote. "It is an enormous step backwards to deemphasize this growing challenge."
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), the top Democrat on the Senate Intel Committee, also blasted the idea on Tuesday.
