Racist threats against Louisiana church result in terrorism and hate crime charges: report

Police arrested a 67-year-old Louisiana man for allegedly sending terrorist threats and making racist statements in letters to a Shreveport church.

"Tuesday, Shreveport police arrested David Tefertiller and booked him into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of terrorizing and one count of hate crimes," ArkLaTex News reported Saturday.

The letters were allegedly sent to the Greenwood Acres Full Gospel Baptist Church.

"Authorities said five handwritten notes, described as being alternately racist and threatening, were thrown outside Greenwood Acres Full Gospel Baptist Church on Greenwood Road this year. One threatened to kill Blacks and others made profane comments about Blacks, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black Lives Matter," KTBS-TV reported. "Tefertiller came under investigation after a church employee saw a note being left and got a license plate number, police said."

Tefertiller was released after posting $100,000 bond.
