President Donald Trump threw insults at CNN's Kaitlan Collins Thursday as she took him to task over attempts to cast blame for the plane crash that killed 67 people in Washington, D.C.
Speaking to the press from the White House, Trump had blamed previous presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama for policies he said led to the crash, before laying into diversity policies that he claimed had put disabled people in charge of air traffic control.
Collins asked him if that was fitting, considering the details of what caused the crash were barely known.
"We don't know the names of the 67 people who were killed, and you are blaming Democrats and DEI and air traffic control and seemingly the member of the U.S. military who was flying that Black Hawk helicopter," Collins said.
"Don't you think you're getting ahead of the investigation right now?"
Trump responded, "No, I don't think so at all. I don't think the names of the people, you mean the names of the people that are on the plane? Uh, you think that's going to make a difference?
"I think that's not a very smart question. I'm surprised, coming from you."
Collins fired back, "Are you blaming yourself?"
"Please, please," Trump responded.
The American Airlines flight from Wichita, KS, was coming in to land at D.C.'s Reagan National Airport when it collided with the helicopter Wednesday night. There are thought to be no survivors.
