A pastor whose endorsement was welcomed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was arrested for threatening a volunteer at a woman’s clinic in Charlotte, NC, WSOCTV.com reports.
Pastor Phillip "Flip" Benham is accuse of approaching a volunteer “menacingly” and repeated told her, “you are dead,” according to the report.
Benham called the allegation “bogus."
During his 2015 presidential run, Cruz's campaign touted an endorsement by Benham, despite his history of homophobic and xenophobic rhetoric. In 2011, Benham was found guilty of stalking an abortion provider.
