Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett (D-VI) on Wednesday called for an ethics investigation into her colleague Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
The remarks came during a House Oversight Hearing with testimony from former Trump attorney Michael Cohen. Gaetz was widely accused of witness tampering after he posted a tweet threatening Cohen.
"I want to apologize for the inappropriate comments and tweets that have been made by other members of this body," Plaskett said. "And as a former prosecutor and as former counsel on house ethics, I think that at the very least there should be a referral to the Ethics Committee of witness intimidation and tampering under 18 U.S. Code ยง 1512 of my colleague Matt Gaetz and maybe possibly him being referred for criminal prosecution."
Earlier, Gaetz had been spotted in the committee room even though he is not a member.
