'You're victim blaming': Dem skewers Fox News host over ICE shooting claims

A House Democrat clashed with a Fox News host on Sunday over claims about who is to blame in the deadly shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota, last week.

Last week, a 37-year-old mother named Renee Good was gunned down by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent named Jonathan Ross while Good was trying to leave the scene of an immigration raid. Good's killing sparked protests across the country and increased scrutiny of President Donald Trump's administration over its deportation practices.

On Sunday, Rep. Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) discussed Good's killing with Fox News host Peter Doocy on "The Sunday Briefing."

Doocy compared Good's killing to disobeying a police officer's orders during a traffic stop. "I imagine they would take some action against me," he said. "Is that completely off base?"

Auchincloss didn't mince words in his response.

"So, Peter, what you're saying is that if you get pulled over and the officer grabs your door and attempts to pry it open and is filming you, with another officer on the other side of the car, and your car moves forward away from the officers, your family would be okay if you then got shot in the face three times?" Auchincloss asked.

"No, but I would think that I'm disobeying a law enforcement officer who is giving me an order after being pulled over for something," Doocy replied before asking if there is a better way for people to protest ICE instead of being in their car.

"Again, you're victim-blaming," Auchincloss shot back.

"Two minutes ago, I heard the Director lie and say the civilian was at fault for being a part of an operation," he continued. "Let's be clear here. You have a badge. You have a gun. You are wearing a mask. You are accountable for everything that happens and fails to happen in that operation."
