Donald Trump's special government employee Elon Musk is turning his focus on cutting the Department of Education — which the co-hosts of "The View" agreed will hurt the country for generations.
Musk has worked his way through various government agencies using AI software that searches for positions and people to cut. According to its website, the Department of Education is the smallest Cabinet agency.
"You know, getting rid of the Department of Education is actually the first goal in the education section of Project 2025," said Sunny Hostin on Thursday's episode.

She noted that the show had spent a lot of time talking about the Heritage Foundation playbook for the first 180 days of the second Trump administration.
"If you get rid of the Department of Education, you really don't have this sort of financial boon that they're telling you that you're going to have," Hostin continued.
She then pointed to a floor speech by Republican Arizona Rep. David Schweikert, who walked through the amount of money saved and how much it would actually impact the budget. Cutting the DOE would be minimal.
"So, you see, it's not really about saving money," said Hostin. "I think there's a much more nefarious reason. Without education, you get cheaper labor. I think what they want to do is create in the United States a permanent underclass. A permanent cheap workforce, because educated workers cost more. That is the bottom line, and that's what they're doing."
