'They are all in on it with Jack Smith': Trump ally says Ron DeSantis is working with DOJ
January 17, 2024
Trump world has come up with a new oppression theory: Ron DeSantis is helping Special Counsel Jack Smith in his prosecutions of the former president.
Donald Trump's campaign in July issued a statement on the purported "unholy alliance" between DeSantis and the Justice Department's work.
"Though, even more telling, a top DeSantis fundraiser confessed that their 'strategy' relied on endless political prosecutions of President Trump by radical leftist prosecutors," the campaign said at the time.
That statement served as a jumping off point for Trump ally Laura Loomer, who has continued to support Trump and attack his enemies in the GOP and the Democratic party.

She said on Tuesday that "DeSantis and his Presidential campaign are working with Jack Smith to prevent Donald Trump from ever becoming President ever again!"
"We all saw what happened at the Iowa Caucus last night. President Trump won 98 out of 99 of Iowa’s counties and [DeSantis] didn’t win a single one," according to the activist. "If Ron is in Second Place, why is he attacking Third Place [Nikki Haley]?"
Loomer added that "Top DeSantis advisors confessed months ago that their 'strategy' relied on capitalizing off of the endless political persecutions of President Trump by radical leftist prosecutors like Jack Smith."
"Desantis and his staff are waiting in the shadows, salivating over the thought of President Trump going to jail or getting assassinated before the 2024 Presidential election," she wrote, adding that DeSantis used to be a federal prosecutor.
"He worked with the same people who are now trying to prosecute President Trump before DeSantis ever ran for office," she then added.
In a follow-up post, Loomer said that's also why Haley said 'this is now a 2 person race' "last night after she came in 3rd place in the Iowa Caucus."
"The Chris Christie Hot mic moment was clearly staged as well," Loomer wrote. "They are all in on it with Jack Smith."
Former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski provided some backing from the theory on MSNBC Tuesday.
"He's betting on Jack Smith. He's betting on criminal cases and cholesterol," he said Tuesday.
"He thinks Trump is either going to be convicted or in jail or something else," he said, referring to DeSantis.
