The Department of Homeland Security posted an extreme meme asking X users, “Don’t make me tap the sign.”
The meme was a screenshot from a Simpsons episode where Homer is tempted to tap a bus sign that says "Do not talk to driver" to get Lisa to stop talking.
The “Do not talk to driver” phrase was replaced with an undated X post from @memeticsisyphys, who wrote “Liberals don't know things. They don’t read history, they don't obsess over stats, the few data points they do see, they forget. Their entire world is driven by the consumption of fiction.”
The social media post from DHS came in reply to an equally strange post from the official X account of California Governor Gavin Newsom's Press Office.
Newsom’s office post, which was made 13 hours before DHS’ response, was a TikTok video of an AI-generated voice of Emperor Palpatine reading a tweet from White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller with a lightsaber battle in the background.
“The insurrectionist mobs will be defeated.” Miller’s post went on to say, “Our love for America is stronger than their hatred. Sovereignty will be restored. The illegals will be returned. Our way of life will prevail.”
The posts are a
continuation of the battle between Newsom and President Donald Trump. Trump and Newsom have been trading blows for days after Trump sent 4700 troops to Los Angeles to quell the immigration protests going on in the city. Trump has even floated having Newsom arrested.
