A disgruntled former employee shot and killed himself Monday morning outside the Fox News headquarters in Manhattan.
Police said 41-year-old Phillip Perea handed out fliers that claimed his former employer had “ended his career,” just moments before he shot himself.
Investigators said they recovered a gun and suicide note from the scene.
Perea, who worked at a Fox News affiliate in Austin, Texas, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.
The shooting took place outside the front doors of the News Corporation building, where Fox News and the Wall Street Journal are located.
Fox News is owned by 21st Century Fox and the Journal is owned by News Corporation.
Perea had posted numerous YouTube videos about workplace bullying and complained about his former employer on his Twitter account.
