DNC video takes aim at Romney calling him 'Wall Street's best friend'

While the next race for the White House still has months before it begins, Democrats are already taking aim at one of the Republican Party's most likely presidential hopefuls.

As Senate Democrats continue to work to reach across party lines looking for support for their Wall Street overhaul bill, a new video from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) portrays the former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as a longtime defender, and beneficiary of Wall Street practices.

"Actions have consequences, and there’s a political price to be paid to protect Wall Street," one senior Senate Democratic aide said, reports Roll Call this morning. “We feel we have the upper hand. We’re on the right side of the issues.”

Romney has been one of the bill's most vocal critics among those considering a presidential bid.

"Other GOP candidates have chimed in on the bill," reports The Hill blog, "including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R), who said the debate '"demonstrates what happens when political leaders react to a crisis with a raft of new regulations."'

"This type of attack on Romney is the type of offensive other Republicans who end up opposing the legislation should expect," a Hill Democratic source said.

The nearly 90-second video titled "Mitt Romney: Wall Street's Best Friend" - highlights past comments by Romney defending Wall Street practices, and criticizing President Obama for making comments critical of the banking industry.
