President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump plan to skip Hurricane Harvey's "hardest hit areas" during their visit to Texas this week.
White House sources revealed to CNN on Monday that Melania Trump would be traveling with the president to Texas on Tuesday.
"They will not visit the hardest hit areas," CNN host John Berman explained. "But they will go down there and talk to people who have responded so far helping coordinate that effort."
A day after Hurricane Katrina struck Louisiana in 2005, President George W. Bush chose to fly over New Orleans in Air Force One. Two days later, he visited the area, infamously telling FEMA Director Michael Brown, "Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job. The FEMA Director is working 24 – they're working 24 hours a day."
Brown was later asked to resign after his qualifications for the job came under fire.
