'He's demented': Illinois governor calls out Trump for 'embarrassing gaffe'

Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker has dubbed Donald Trump "demented" after the president's recent comments on Chicago.

The embarrassing gaffe saw Trump call for troops to be deployed on the "Miracle Mile" in Illinois, getting the name of the Magnificent Mile incorrect in a recent Truth Social post. Gov. Pritzker has since called Trump "demented" after his comments on the Magnificent Mile and said the president "doesn't know anything about Chicago."

Pritzker would go on to say the president has "no idea what he's doing" and is seemingly behind on current events when it came to cities like Chicago and Portland. Pritzker said, "He doesn't even know the name of Michigan Avenue as the Magnificent Mile, not Miracle Mile. All I can say is Donald Trump doesn't know anything about Chicago."

"He still thinks Chicago is someplace that's on fire, like he says about Portland. The man is demented. He really has no idea what he's doing." Pritzker's knock at the president comes after Trump posted to Truth Social and urged the city to "call in the troops" before "it's too late."

Trump wrote, "The Miracle Mile Shopping Center in Chicago, once considered our Nation’s BEST, now has a more than 28% vacancy factor, and is ready to call it quits unless something is done about the murder and crime, which is prevalent throughout the City. CALL IN THE TROOPS, FAST, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!"

A day later, and Trump would speak on Chicago again, saying that despite "radical opposition" the city had allegedly seen a decrease in crime. He wrote, "I am proud to announce that Chicago, Illinois, despite all of the radical opposition and obstruction we have from the Mayor and the Governor, has seen Car Theft, Shootings, Robberies, Violent Crime, and everything else, drop dramatically.

"As we ramp up more assets, these numbers will continue to drop. This has been achieved despite the extraordinary resistance from Chicago and Illinois Radical Democrat 'Leadership,' and the constant Violent Leftwing Terrorism against ICE Officers and Federal Agents that Insurrectionist Democrat Officials refuse to stop or prosecute, including constant physical assault and attempted assassination."
