MS NOW's Mika Brzezinski sighed in exasperation as she listened to President Donald Trump lying about winning elections in a state he lost three times.
The 79-year-old president spoke to his former FBI deputy director Dan Bongino on his podcast, where he falsely claimed to have won in Minnesota in each of his races and then argued that Republicans should nationalize and take over elections in at least 15 states.
"Nope, he did not win the state," she said. "President Trump making morefalse election claims. He hasnever won the state of Minnesota, not once – nope."
Brzezinski sighed heavily, and then host Joe Scarborough jumped in to point out that Trump would lose even worse if he were on the ballot this year after his immigration surge had led to the shooting deaths of two Americans by federal agents.
"If he in fact, if heran, if he ran this year, itwould be a landslide defeat," Scarborough said. "Hewould be crushed now, afterwhat's happened in Minnesotaover the past several months. But no, never won, again, therewere 63 federal judges, many ofthem appointed by Republicans, many of them appointed by Donald Trump, who looked overall the facts and said, and Ithink this is they were quoting Louis Brandeis, looking at thecomplaints and would just say, this is, and threw them all out.
"All 63, the United States Supreme Court, also using thesame language as Brandeis forthose challenges that went upto the United States Supreme Court. I think Learned Handalso would use that phraseologyonce in awhile.
"Heknows he's lying, the peoplearound him knows know he'slying," Scarborough added. "They know he didn't win.All the trump-appointed judgesknow he didn't win. All the Republicans that were runningelections in Georgia and Arizona and counting votes in Michigan know he didn't win.All the Republicans in Pennsylvania that were electionofficials that were countingvotes know he didn't win, andmost importantly, he knows hedidn't win because after theelection, he would go aroundgrousing to people saying, 'Ican't believe I lost to Joe Biden.'"
The panelists wondered why Trump-friendly broadcasters and podcast hosts never pushed back on his election lies, and Brzezinski suggested they simply didn't want to bruise his ego.
"I feel bad, I don't want tohurt anyone's feelings, but heabsolutely lost and never won Minnesota," she said. "Never won it, and it's it's important to get thefacts. So sad."
