Donald Trump's race-baiting drives a key Hispanic official out of the RNC

Donald Trump may say he "loves Hispanics," but that feeling apparently isn't mutual -- even among Hispanic Republicans. The New York Times reports that Republican National Committee official Ruth Guerra, who is of Mexican descent, is stepping down from her role as the head of Hispanic media relations.

The Times has two RNC sources who say that Guerra "told colleagues this year that she was uncomfortable working for Mr. Trump," which is likely the reason that she's moving on to a new position at GOP-aligned super PAC American Action Network.

Trump has made bashing undocumented immigrants a staple of his presidential campaign and his favorable ratings among Hispanic voters are the lowest of any Republican nominee ever. Trump has also repeatedly bashed the judge who is overseeing the Trump University case by calling him a "Mexican" despite the fact that he was born in Indiana.

So no, it's not surprising that even Hispanic Republicans feel deeply uncomfortable helping someone like this become president. As the Times notes, Guerra "joins a handful of other R.N.C. aides who have left the party or started looking for new work since Mr. Trump became the party’s presumptive nominee."
